Have your kids hit the ‘why’ phase yet? The way my mother tells it, I spent half of my childhood in the ‘why’ phase and questioned everything all the time.
One day I remember asking my mom “How will I know when I’m a grown up?” I think I was around ten when I asked and her answer has stuck with me for over 20 years.
As profound as that statement was that moment never came.
I officially knew I was an adult when I got excited about something I would’ve that was completely boring as a kid- new cookware.
Yeah… That was the moment I knew I was an adult.
Kitchen Gift Guide
I love kitchen stuff so much I actually had to break it into two separate lists and I am still adding to them as I find more things. Don’t judge me- I like to cook but I need it to be easy!
My first list for kitchen items under $30 can be found here. Keep reading to discover the rest of my favorite kitchen items.
Now I know it’s because they’re awesome! I swear everything cooked on these skillets just tastes better.
They also last forever. I’m talking find-them-at-a-yard-sale-50-years-old-and-still-good forever.
When seasoned properly they’re also non-stick and can add much-needed iron to your diet. This particular skillet also comes with a guide on how to further season your skillet. And cleaning is a cinch if you have this Chainmill Scraper.
on the size of the bottle chosen, it can cost over $30 so I wanted to include it here too.
I completely understand this bottle is not for everyone but it’s BPA free and retains heat and cold for hours. It’s the only bottle I can leave in my car when it’s 90 degrees outside and still come back to ice in my water bottle.
avoid corn syrups and artificial sweeteners.
This electric Ice Cream Maker has a BPA-Free stainless steel bowl and makes making ice cream a breeze. It does come with ice cream instructions but ignore those and try these healthy alternatives instead.
because it’s non-toxic and I don’t have to worry about chemicals leaching into my food. On the down side, we are rough on things in my family and easily broke a lid. I still love my ceramic cookware but I treat them with kid gloves now.
used to take my slow cooker all day. I love that it comes with a stainless steel bowl and it’s great for soups, stews, and cooking meat thoroughly while still tender. I will put my veggies in on occasion but they do turn to mush so be warned you will probably want to cook side dishes separate when using.
salsa-mole (aka salsa guacamole. It’s delicious, amazingly healthy, and I just realized I need to add it to my blog).
Anyway, this baby is the king of food processors. It does well at making 1 cup of food or 12 and they got rid of the stupid hole in the middle so people like me can’t drop food in it.
This is a really small thing but I also love the retractable cord- one less thing to mess with when storing.
the bowl and the suction cups to hold it to the counter are what really had me sold.
Thankfully, my husband is all about DIY and last Christmas got me a food dehydrator. Unforunately, the dang thing was plastic so I found this one instead. It’s my first but we love it. It’s BPA free and we can fit an entire 2 pound roast thinly sliced in it. I’ve only dehydrated apples and bananas but it works well for those fruits too.
the bottom gets full. It is a great filter that leaves your water about as close to pure as you can get it and the taste is amazing. It’s also great to know that if we are ever without water for any reason (like a hurricane) we can use our Berkey to filter water. For a full review on the Berkey check out this in-depth review by Cooking Gods Way.
your smoothie and even a slow speed to make ice cream. It’s also self-cleaning (just add soap and water). This has been on my wish list for almost two years but one of these days when I have one I will update you!
